Terms of use

The game is provided as is, for entertainment. No account, no subscription, no warranty.

Last updated:

What you can do

Play the game, free of charge, as much as you like — at home, in a classroom, at work, on stream or in a video. You do not need permission to record it, write about it or use it as teaching material, and you owe nothing for doing any of that.

There is no licence key, no account and no activation step. If you have the page or the app, you have the game.

What you cannot do

Do not sell the game or charge for access to it, do not republish it as your own work or under another name, and do not remove or alter the authorship and licence notices that ship with it.

Do not decompile, disassemble or otherwise reverse engineer the builds, and do not modify them for redistribution — except where the law where you live gives you that right regardless of what these terms say. Reading the game's own log output, your exported save files and the public documentation is entirely fair game; that is what they are there for.

Provided as is

The game is offered free of charge and as is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. It is not guaranteed to be free of defects, to run on any particular device, or to stay available.

It is a game about system administration, not a system administration tool. Nothing it teaches replaces judgement on a real machine, and no command should be copied into production on the grounds that it worked here.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for any loss arising from use of the game — including lost save data, lost time, or anything you went on to do to a real system afterwards. Where the law does not allow a limitation that broad, liability is limited to the minimum the law permits, which for a free product is generally what you paid for it: nothing.

The name and the content

The name SysAdmin Crisis, along with the game's text, scenarios and design, belongs to its author. Screenshots, clips and quotes for reviews, articles, videos and teaching are welcome and need no permission. Using the name for something that is not this game does need permission, and will not get it.

Changes to these terms

These terms can change as the game does; the date above says when they last did. Continuing to play after a change means the current version applies. Nothing here can quietly turn into a fee, a subscription or a data collection clause — that would be a different product, not a new paragraph.
